What's For Lunch?

sold

I got the photo for this one from my lovely friend, Bren. It reminds me of the time she and I were having a picnic at Schoodic Point in Maine. Every time we wandered away from our food to take pictures, a very eager seagull would try to eat our food and we would have to chase it away. Crazy birds!

So good in terms of restraint and color. And the seagull is soooo cute!

One of the first things I do each morning (after a gulp of tea), is reach for my phone for my daily dose of your pictures. Your glorious colours wake me and your fresh style enlivens my senses... and now the comedy of these last posts tops it all with a smile! Thank you so much! Simon, Worcestershire, UK.

I love this - I love your brushwork! I do try to paint like this but find I fiddle and 'scumble' too much. Blending all over the place!! Any advice?

Thanks, Mr. L! The easiest thing to try is - putting down a stroke and leaving it alone, rather than going back and blending. Also, I find a flat or bright brush is much easier to do that with than filberts or rounds! I have an online tutorial you might be interested in called "keep your oils fresh and loose." Just click on my "art tutorials" link on the right side of my blog. : )

Thank you Carol. Those pesky filberts... I'll put them away for a while. Thanks for taking the time to reply. :-)
