Central Park People
sold
Three gals from Central Park in NYC. Love that skyline!
Today was the last day of my plein air workshop from teacher, Gene Costanza. He had us painting on fairly large panels (for me) - 16x20! But we divided them up into smaller sections to work on. I LOVED this as it forced me to experiment. I had no notion whatsoever that they could EVER be finished paintings that I could frame or sell, so it totally freed me up to let loose. I HIGHLY recommend it. To the right are my 3 panels, in order from top (day 2) to bottom (day 4). (we didn't paint the first day). The bottom, right sketch I did without a complete easel (doh!). I had forgotten the part that holds the panel steady so I had to hold the panel in my hand the whole time. While the wind blew like crazy. Totally frustrating. I think I could have done a better job otherwise. There are lots of other things I could make excuses for too. : ) But I'll leave it at that. Lots of learning happened, that's for sure!
Gene did several demos for us. Somehow I managed not to take any pictures of his finished demos (doh again!), but you can take a look at his website to see his great work!
Days 2 and 3 were at an alpaca farm. These guys are freakin' cute! The last day (today) was at a winery. Ok, that has to be the ultimate place to paint! Not only great views, but a break for lunch and ... "why yes I think I WILL have a glass of wine, thank you!" This was a fabulous workshop! I would do it again tomorrow if I could.

HI Carol: This sounds like such a fabulous time and a fabulous workshop. I know you must be a great teacher, yet you continue to take workshops. Learning never stops, does it? Your work inspires me and I hope you choose to continue to teach in 2015.
