And now, for a total change of pace! I wish I could say I did this from life, but I actually borrowed the photo from my friend Bren. I treated it like an abstract though in that I decided I would do whatever I wanted, and it IS different, but it's still realistic. I really really hope to get out and do some real plein air this summer, but I'm also already really busy. Ugh.
I got several emails today about my "crabby new yorkers" comment yesterday. Just to clarify, I LOVED my time in NYC. And I had some surprisingly lovely conversations with random strangers. Honestly, the only negative moment was when the costumed people in Times Square demanded I give them a tip for a photo before I even took one. But whatever. All-in-all I loved the city and loved the people. I apologize for blindly repeating the stereotype!

I feel like I know you Carol as you tell us so much about yourself and your process. Today's scene is tranquil and absolutely beautiful. Goes to show plein air painting is too hyped. This looks like you stook right at the edge of the scene. I love it!. Come to NM sometime, please.
Oh, please! No need to apologize. People are too sensitive. I lived in NJ for years and traveled back and forth to NY City all the time. Stereotypes exist for a reason. Most contain a kernel of truth! Now let's hear some New Jersey jokes (I don't mind).

Thank you for the retraction, Carol! New York City is a unique place.. and those of us who used to call it home never fell out of love with its charm...including the serious face you must put on as you walk quickly from here to there. Ahhh there are many stories to tell. Glad you got there and hope you visit again. There is so much to see and smile about (only tourists are allowed to smile). Linda (former crabby New Yorker)
