Black Jaguar

sold

I think I forgot to mention I was heading out to teach last week in California. : ) So if you missed me, that's where I was. The car above is an old (perfect) Jaguar I spotted and painted right before I left Eugene. I am secretly in love with them - shhh. Below are some pictures from my workshop last week, put on by the small but mighty Debra Huse Gallery.

Above is the room we were in and all our still life crap stuff. And below are my first four demos. I did an egg the last day but completely forgot to photograph it. These were all taken with my iphone because someone (me) forgot to pack my camera. Apparently I forgot a lot of things.

FYI, I posted these photos and more on my Facebook page. Below are all my kids, me, and my disastrously freaky hair. You guys were fabulous! Thanks for the great week. : )

Hi Carol,

I have been to quite a few workshops, but I found yours by far to be the most valuable. Many times artists who offer workshops can paint, but are sadly lacking in teaching skills. You have mastered both. Thank you for being clear and concise with your explanations, for caring if we 'got it' after you explained something, for taking the time to explain things. I learned SO much from you.

Ha... I (though not so secretly) love jaguars too.... It's funny how I can ALWAYS spot them... Even the older ones...something about the cool body form, whoever designs them, they are always so neat !

I love this one! I would love a vintage car - a friend has bought a Morris Minor, white and she calls it Daisy!

What a memorable week! I loved it. And your hair is perfect for SoCal, so come back sometime please, and we'll try to show you some sunshine.

one more thing.
I agree wholeheartedly with Val's assessment of your workshop teaching skills, which match your painting skills.
You make sure everyone 'gets it', as
much as is possible, and you make everyone feel good, then we all go out to dinner and drink wine and laugh.
I'm spoiled for workshops where the instructor isn't 'that into' the students :D
