Tea Time

sold

This is another larger painting I did earlier this year. I remember when I arranged it, I had everything but the red tea bag and felt it still needed something. I think I tried every single other object in my studio before I realized a tea bag would be perfect! Luckily I have a whole slew of tea bags in all sorts of colors.

Carol, I really love this one,and it's not because of my tea cup/ tea pot fetish. It's because I love what you've done with the colors and the surface is so interesting. Love!

Wow, just fabulous. One of my favorites. You are the queen of set ups, you need to put together a artbyte on set ups??? Maybe?

Carol, I asked you one time if you made the small paintings as an exercise or just for practice because I didn't get it. So I liked what you said about your epiphany because you are right. Every good artist relies on technique even as it must change over time. But repeating a formula over and over again is not making art. It is making pictures. Bad artists rely on formula. Computers can make passable formulaic art. It is also totally soulless. I understand the all the reasons for making tiny paintings but you are actually too good to keep making them I think.

Obviously this is just an opinion..

Isn't it amazing how a single item no matter how small can have such a big effect. The red is a wondeful contrast against the greens.
