The problem with reds and yellows and oranges, in general, is they are almost always darker than we think they are. Every time I encounter them I make sure to squint extra hard and compare each value with as many others as possible. I am beginning to think getting past our brains and all it's thinking is our biggest and most sustained hurdle in painting! I feel I get slowly better at just about everything else, but my brain is always in my way.

i see you set up another "simple" composition, lol. These reds are fabulous against the grays. And I love the shadow of the bowl and tomatoes.
I really like the visual rhythm in this composition Carol, my eye just keeps moving through the piece, it's like jazz for the eyes. Love it!
