Don't Fall Off

Did I mention my husband is gone all this week? He is back in Texas visiting his family and I am going crazy missing him. My darling son is trying to make things better by sticking by my side all day, every day, asking constant questions. It is incredibly sweet but makes painting difficult. I have been managing to squeeze in one a day, but that's it. Ok ... I admit it - I let him watch tv so I can paint!! I am a terrible mother.

This is a beauty! The composition adds interest, and your edges on the napkin are genius!

Yeah, I was a terrible mother too...allowed too much TV and video games. They still turned out okay (great actually), and I turned out some artwork.

Hello Carol,

Yes, this is a situation I face as well. My oldest son is almost 7 and my youngest almost 3. Lately I have been getting ready for shows and it is so easy to have the tv on all afternoon while I am in the studio. There is no simple solution to this underlying guilt that gets switched on in me when the tv comes on. I suppose moderation is the key. It is not going to be every day that they are sitting in front of it. This is where I find peace.

Just a note, I am still following your blog and love your work. I am grateful for all you taught me during your workshop in Red Deer, Canada. Authenticity.
Recently I am finding success with painting and I would be amiss if I did not give credit to you for a part of this success. Your authentic approach to teaching, your openness in sharing all that you know carries over into how you lay down the paint on the canvas. This is inspiring. I sincerely thank you.

ROFLOL! Hey, lots of people let their kids watch TV so they can do much worse things... I think he'll survive :)

You made me laugh! I think we are all terrible mothers sometimes. But my kids turned out ok.

Your painting is beautiful!

Wow Carol, this came out esp great. Something about the color combo - the peaches are filled with warmth..makes me want to pluck one up and eat it.
