Rose Glow

I am still having a blast in San Fran, but will be back home tomorrow. Meanwhile, this rose. I am so so so happy with this. It came about slowly. First I got obsessed with taking close-up pictures of roses, randomly. I had this vague idea of maybe doing some large rose paintings, someday. And then one morning last week I woke up and an image of a very abstract rose popped into my head. I ran into my studio to paint it, but it wasn't working out, so I painted this. Which I love. Did I say that already?

An exquisite balance of abstraction and realism! Even though it radiates a surreal and dreamy quality, I can nonetheless smell that velvety rose...

Beautiful Carol! Wonderful color. Not usually a fan of oversized images, but I think this would make a great, large, almost abstract painting.

Very Beautiful close up! You have captured the softness of the petals wonderfully.

I love it too. I love how the center is a saturated color and you grayed the outer petals. It's yummy.

That is a REALLY nice painting. I don't think I've seen you do a macro viewpoint before and it's such a perfect solution for for this subject. Art tutorial on how you think through composition?

It's gorgeous Carol!! Love the color, darker center and the lighter outer sections. Some paintings just evolve in their own time. This was worth the wait!!
