Mini Storefront

Click Here to Bid - 4x5 inches (bidding starts at $75)

When I was chopping up panels I made an itty bitty one, for kicks. This is 4x5 inches. The scene is from an early morning walk around Greenville, NY. My solution for future small panels has been decided - I very much appreciate everyone's input! Since I already love the Ampersand gessobord surface, I am just going to buy big panels and cut them down. Because I hated gesso-ing anyway.

I also wanted to share some pics of some frames I just got from www.frankenframes.com. I love this simple, black, floating style. The awesome thing about the site is you can get any dimensions. So for example, the paintings I just posted that are not "standard" dimensions, are easily framed with Franken Frames (no, they are not paying me to say this).

Oh, and happy July 4th!

  2. I love Franken Frames, have ordered a lot of stuff from them over the last 5-6 years. The service is wonderful, if you email them with a question they respond very quickly. (I'm not getting paid to say this either!)

  6. I just buy big gessobord and cut it too - I love the surface too much to use anything else!! I also order custom sized panels directly from ampersand for my larger paintings - they'll make them in any weird size you want if you're willing to wait a few weeks.

  8. Carol, I really like the look of these frames. I'm curious, how do you attach a panel to the back of the frame when there's no stretcher bars?

    Thanks,
    Kathleen

  9. Hi Carol,

How do you attach the floater frame to panels? Normally there is screw through the back of the frame into the stretcher bars.

    Thank you for your blog!

  10. nice little sketch.

I've been using franken frames for a while and find them great to work with and prices are more than reasonable. their floating frames are great.

If you paint with panels they will make backings for floating frames for $3 or so which I couldn't find anywhere.

  14. I may sound stupid but how does the board float in the frame? I understand that canvases ar screwed onto a floating frame but wondered if one uses a board how they could be floated
