Market Coffee Break

This is a little scene I captured at Eugene's Saturday Market recently. This guy was enjoying his coffee and his slice of sunlight on this brisk morning. And below is the promised compiled list of loose painters. You guys sent me a ton and I narrowed it down to just those who spoke to me personally, at this moment. I got A LOT of inspiration from these folks already, will surely get more, and I thoroughly appreciate the recommendations. I am happy to say I believe my funk/block/whatever is done with. For now. I am excited about painting again. Honestly excited, and that is a good feeling!

Tim Horn, William Wray, Jill Soukup, John Brian Guernsey, Randall Sexton, Hsin-Yao Tseng, Camille Przewodek, Susan Abbott, Bryan Mark Taylor, Doug Braithwaite, Connie Hayes, Larry Seiler, Anne Blair Brown, Colley Whisson, Patrick Suanders, Daniel Corey, Oana LauricJeremy Mann, Marc Dalessio, Quang Ho, Charles Movalli

Hi Carol,
I've only just begun to follow your blog and work. I love your loose style and was delighted to find your compilation of artists who work in this way.

I would like to add another suggestion: Paul Balmer. Here is his site:

Enjoy!

Carol, you're a genius at getting great stuff on your blog! Thanks for listing those artist names. I wish you well on your unblocking. We need your wit and talent as we slog along with our painting.

Thanks for posting your favorites Carole...I cruised through and saved a few of them myself. I wanted to send you Doug Braithwaite's name ...but couldn't remember it! You did the remembering for me, thank you.
Enjoy your reclaimed excitement...I'll be following it!

This is a great list Carol, but I would have thought to see
Ken Auster on it too. Just a thought.

Great list of painters! Several that I have been following for a long time, and plenty of new people. Thanks for sharing these. I love finding new artists to study.

If not for the life CM put into this painting, this might--by some stretch--be seen as an arrangement of inconsequential subject matter. However, this painting is stunning. I can feel the weight of the coffee cup in the man's sagging hand, the weight of his clothing, his shoes. I can feel his weight and heat of his soles inside his shoes. I can see past the expression on his face right into his almost dozing mind. Then there's the gift CM gives us in the care taken in all of her cast shadows. I can stop.

Thanks for your links Carol. I recognize many (especially those Mainers) but look forward to checking them out. I love your departure from the familiar still lifes. This one is PERFECT. Love the figure.
