High Country Shacks

This is a scene from a back alley in Silverton, Colorado. But what I really want to say tonight is well, two things. One, wish me luck tomorrow as I'm running a half marathon! AND - I found a very cool solution for taking breaks from painting! They're called "paint savers" and they're little suction cup thingies that keep your paint wet for weeks. And instead of explaining them away I'll just show you this picture and give you a link to the website: www.paintsavers.org. Very cool!

Another beautiful painting! Good luck tomorrow to both you and Sarah, Carol. It sounds like the weather will cooperate. Thank you for the info about the cups - I'm eager to try them out.
Wow Carol, I am impressed that you find time to run on top of everything else you do. Good luck in the marathon!
More landscapes Carol - you're a genius! Good luck with the run tomorrow!
Luck!! Yay for you- running a half marathon!
Love these windows and the way you painted them- the shadows beneath are amazing!
That's a terrific idea! Thank you for sharing. I will totally get some of these!
Very nice painting Carol and thank you for the paint savers tip. I have tried many things but these look like they will work. I just ordered mine.
I assume the race is over and you're enjoying a much-deserved glass o'.
Thanks for the tip about Paintsavers. A must for us acrylic-jockeys, so I just ordered mine. Hope you get a cut!
Good luck Carol!! Loving your paintings...beautiful soft colors.
Hope you did well on your race today.
Hi Carol,
Did you know that there is another resident of Eugene, that is an inspiration in the art world, besides you and David ?
Rustle over at iFaraday.com makes the most beautiful light an sensitive stylus for drawing and painting on the iPad. I have tried lots and when I used Rustle's I was very impressed, and when I saw the return address as Eugene ,Oregon, I thought I would share this little creative tidbit with you. I hope that you've recovered after your run?
have a greaft day!
I love the landscape. It's so very much the American West with the light, the colors, it makes me want to go out for some plein air again today since the sun's out!
Thanks for the tip on the paint savers, I'm going to get some. They may be better than the Masterson palette. Have you ever seen Tubz? I'm not sure where I found them, but they are for saving paint loaded brushes.
The cups seemed like a good idea but did not work for me. After a week, the paint was too thick to use.
What do you mean too thick to use? Did it dry out? Or actually increase in thickness? Could you not have added medium to it to thin it?
