Troglodytic Tomato

This is a new size for me - 5x7in. I saw a student recently painting something horizontal and I thought - why on earth have I been doing squares, exclusively for so long?! Duh.

And regarding the title, sometimes I look up words in the thesaurus so both words start with the same letter. Silly, I know. Troglodytic means someone who lives a secluded life, who is unaquainted with affairs of the world. Maybe the tomato wants to live that way, but it sure looks lonely.

une autre de vos peintures qui me plait beaucoup... J'aime cette composition où votre tomate semble venir en tant que visiteuse... J'adore... tout comme vos nuances de couleurs ainsi que vos reflets.
Gros bisous à vous.

Nice alliteration in the title, Carol. I love looking up words in thesaurus, too. I like the new size and I really like this painting!

Troglodytic! Well, how can I work that into a conversation?! I'll just have to speak intelligently when talking about your beautiful painting. Love it!!

That tomato reminds me of me. :P It's awesome how the background appears to be almost glowing with it's own light.

Carol, I just found your blog through another artist's blog. I am in LOVE with your style - it's speaking my visual language so profoundly and beautifully. :) Haha.

Also, a funny thing, as I sat staring at your painting, I glanced at the title and was wondering what troglodytic meant, so I looked it up even before I read the explanation in the post. Haha. I had a good laugh on that one.

Kudos to you. I actually just bought 10 5x7 canvases today! I hope after the Christmas break to start getting my hands dirty in some good ol' oil and pigment. Keep up the lovely work.

Troglodyte is such an awesome word, isn't it? Sounds just like what it means... The troglodyte lived his days within the cave in almost utter darkness, almost never making contact with others. It sounds like the beginning of a crazy mystery!
