Don't you hate it when you wake up in the morning and your dang ship is missing? I can identify with this captain. I found him at a thrift store near my folks a couple months ago. There was a whole set, all wood, all different, and after painting this one I asked my mom to buy the rest and ship them to me. Unfortunately, they got to my house right before the fire. I did paint this guy twice - I'll post the other one tomorrow.

Hi Carol. First I must say sorry about what happened to you but how impressed I am by your courage and energy and positivity. A good lesson for all of us. This little painting makes me smile. I love the facial expression on the captain. It looks likes he giving us a smile but inside thinking "Where the hell is my ship? I'm sure I parked it here yesterday...Anyway, let's keep smiling as if nothing happened he he " Thanks for sharing.
love the paintng and so sorry about the captain and everything else you lost in the fire. My husbands family had a fire years ago and it sort of became their meridian of time. Everything is gaged by before or after the fire.

I love this one. The little captain is great, so well done. Losing your props must be very difficult also, you'll have a new collection before you know it. The hunt is part of the fun isn't it?

Hi Carol, Like so many others, I, too, am sorry about what happened. However, I am happy to know you have landed on your feet and have found a lovely home in Eugene. Having just returned from there after visiting with my son and daughter-in-law and doing some exploratory house hunting myself, I know you will love it. It seems that we were visiting the coast (from Florence to Newport) the same time you were there. I look forward to all the wonderful new work you will be creating in the months ahead. Here's wishing you and your family all the best.
Growing up, my parents had (and still have) all the wooden figures. They were in the "don't touch" display cabinet.

first thing that came into my mind about this post title is captain jack sparrow! haha, but it's a modern captain in your painting though.. splendid painting!

My son recognized the captain from a family member's decor. More will turn up :-)
