Cactus Time Out

I always seem to forget one thing every time I travel, and this time I had a big oops - I forgot my computer plug dealy - the thing that keeps my computer charged. Now I am home from Florida and catching up on email. Please forgive me if you've written and I haven't responded. I also have gotten quite a bit of email recently - which I appreciate GREATLY - but if you didn't ask a specific question I probably won't respond. Please don't take offense - if I respond to every one I won't have time to paint. Please know I read  them all and LOVE the support and comments!!!

This painting is the last one from BTF (before the fire). My plan is to return to the faces for now and probably resume still life as well by the end of the week. I have to admit I really enjoyed doing still life demos at my workshop this last week ... (will post photos soon)

Carol, it never ceases to amaze me how you are able to paint complicated table surfaces (such as the one in this painting) that "hold together" despite contant changes in hue; it does not look spotty or confusing. I hope and pray that you will discuss this strategy and technique in your workshop! Wonderful painting, your unique and wonderful brand of quirky realism!

Very nice harmony in this painting. Love the way you handled the cloth. Beautiful.

Really enjoying the faces, and always the still lives/lifes (?). I thought about your plane paintings of a while back when my family and I went to our local airport to see some WWII airplanes. I took lots of photos and am looking forward to painting them! Also trying to get a local arts organization to ask you to come to Virginia to teach a workshop!! I know it's a hike for you, but we're nice her in the Shenandoah Valley!

This is SO beautiful -- just like all your still lifes... but it is good that you are exploring new territory in the faces... explorations like that are never ever a waste of time... what is so amazing about your still lifes is that you are only taking a break now after five years!!!

Hi Carol, I think you're amazing lady after all you've been through. I'm an amateur painter and your funny faces are a true inspiration!
