I recently took on an illustration job that partly involves painting a hot dog. I don't usually do things like that, but I was really intrigued by the idea. For practice I decided to paint one on my own. It was super fun! I'm thinking at some point I might do more things like this - maybe hamburgers and things like that. Maybe - I don't know. I'll tell you all about the project when I'm done with it. For now mum's the word.

Nice Carol. Hope that wasn't your Easter dinner.
Hi Carol, that looks like a yummy Spring lunch...I am a mustard only on my dog, so great for me. As far as challenges, how about some sort of animal or reptile or some such. Gloria JZ
Yum! It will be fun to see you do more of this kind of thing.
lecker !
Did you squeeze the yellow out of the paint tube to do the mustard?
Cute! I can't wait for summer barbeques!
Very nice. I can't wait to hear about your hot dog illustration.
Well, you do apples, oranges, and eggs and lots of healthy stuff. Maybe time to go to the "dark side"?
It's so much fun to see what you do with this type of subject matter. I love this. Please clarify: you don't usually do things like a)painting hotdogs or b)taking on illustration jobs? I'm interested to know if you do illustration in addition to your gallery painting. I would be encouraged to know that you do, and that the two are compatible.
Thank you everyone!!
Babs- no, I didn't squeeze yellow straight from the tube, though it was tempting. : ) Actually, the mustard was the toughest part. For this one I painted the hot dog first and then the mustard. For another one, which I'll post later, I did it the other way around and I think it worked a little better.
Christi- I don't usually take illustration jobs. I think painting and illustration are completely compatible. I just would RATHER paint on my own, and I am finally lucky enough to turn the other stuff down. This one just intrigued me.
Great painting Carol, I really like the mustard, so will be interested in seeing the next painting with the mustard, that you think works better. Congratulations on the illustration job.
Your titles always make me smile - I don't know how you come up with them day after day! This piece is great - can't wait to hear about the project - intriguing!
YUM!
My boys would love this painting!! I think they survive on hot dogs!! Great piece and I encourage your burger and dog series:)
Love the dog, I've done breakfast stuff, not eggs per say, but skillet dishes in pans, and paninis, etc. guess cause I love to eat them. As always, I just love your compositions. Looking forward to seeing the 'secret'. As well as seeing the mustard painted the other way around, I'm intrigued and can't wait to see the difference.
I LOVE IT!!!
Very nice Carol!
As always, it's not so much about what you paint, as how you paint it in your distinctive style. It's all so you...the compositions, the brushstrokes, the humor. And it works. :o)
