I've had a great time with these flowers! It's been a nice change of pace. I'm finally getting a feel for painting roses I think. My method this time: paint an overall, average color over the whole rose space; then paint in all the darker bits; then all the lighter bits. This seems to work the best of everything I've tried.

I like this one, too! I have been into white flowers lately.
Lovely! And this is a nice change of pace. Very Carol Marine, but a refreshing change too! Love it.
Beautiful! Of course, I am a little partial to roses considering my last name :) Love the tips too. Must try that!
I appreciate the very practical advice you give, Carol, and I really liked the quote from yesterday. I think it's a very enpowering idea for anyone who wants to improve. Just keep after it and don't get too hung up and paralyzed. It is very motivating to me when you share your own struggles in the process of trying to paint better. Thanks, Carol!
beautiful. the deep-green leaves are striking.
awesome, carol - lovely job!!!
Good system,Carol! It certainly works here!
your recent flower work is wonderful Carol. Makes me want to see our snow melt.
This flower is lovely and I appreciate the information on how you approached it. I also enjoy your glass pieces. Light shining through things is my favourite.
I have a technical question. Do you varnish your paintings?
Very nice. It's easy to get caught up in the lights and darks at the beginning and get lost.
For one reason or another, perhaps too much of a good thing, I much prefer the white rose to red ones so I am personally very drawn to this one Carol.
There are some beautiful roses out there. Some beautiful tulips too. Have you ever tried a self portrait? That is a painter's ultimate challenge. All the great painters try them.
I can almost smell its fragrance, just by looking at this rose. Very beautiful.
..memories...we called it a Shirley Temple...made with grenadine and 7-up with a cherry! lovely painting
Love this one, Carol. Can't wait to try your method.
