Pile of Gold - SOLD

This is the last of the yellow tomatoes. You've probably noticed that I like to do a series of the things I find to paint. I have several reasons for that. One, I hate to waste anything. That is fundamental in my nature. Alas. Two, I get excited about whatever subject I'm on and when I'm painting the first one I'm usually getting ideas for a second, third, etc. Three, I feel I must paint each subject until I say ... what I want to say about it. Often that takes more than one painting.

What I love is the reflection! I love how you can see the underside of the plate. Terrific composition!

Protecting the Queen is a better painting than Pile of Gold. It's just better. Protecting the Queen works on many levels. Pile of Gold doesn't. The actual painting is very good on both. But Pile of Gold just isn't as memorable for me.

Hi Carol, thanks for a great class!!! You are such an inspiration. I started a blog and have followed through for three days now and really think that my painting has improved as a result of your class.

I love the reflections and the contrasting, subtle, complementary purpley grey of the table and background that really makes the yellow pop.
