Carol: This is great advice.

great challenge Corol, really good excercise for any artist at every level. I love that it is a challenge that dosn't involve a photograph, this will be very interesting. Well done as well, for this new bit of daily paintworks, is it you or your other half who does all the web wizardry that must be involved?

I make my students do this for Artists Bootcamp... but in ink or pencil. Now this is really a challenge in paint! Yikes.

Oooh, great idea...a snowstorm outside means a good time to try this. Thanks for push to practice!

I love this exercise, which I learned the first time I took your workshop, and have done a bunch of times since (and I make my students do it too). It's tremendously effective.

I hope you will send us off on more exercises on the challenge blog. The value exercises you do in your workshop would be awesome as well, and they look really sharp (or maybe I just like monochrome...).

All the best, Carol. Thanks for keeping us thinking and painting!

Thanks for teaching us Carol - what a break for us that your teaching talents *almost* rival your painting talents :-)

All-

I am so happy that you guys are enjoying this challenge! I very much enjoyed doing it myself.

Sarah, my husband is a web wizard behind the challenge and the rest of Daily Paintworks. None of this would be possible without him.

You have a hit - BIG TIME!

I LOVE challenges & try to follow every one I can find. When I find a new one - it is like Christmas! When one ends - I feel like I've lost a friend.

BUT, here is what I LOVE about your set up.
1. You accept entries after the next challenge has begun.
2. You have a running total to notify the visitor just how many more have been added since their last visit - WONDERFUL!
3. It is easy to see all the entries - no hunting for them!
4. The overall look of the challenge is crisp and clean - VERY ATTRACTIVE!
5. You are going to kick things up - anticipating the next unique challenge is delicious!
6. It is a challenge in every sense. The artist will learn something while participating in the fun.

I'm sure I'll kick myself for forgetting many more points, but this will get it started. Daily Paintworks members should be really proud of what you are doing. It certainly is a significant addition to DPW.

My only concern is YOU! This must be an awesome amount of work and you must not let it overwhelm you. I think this has been a problem in some of the other challenges. And BIG KUDOS to your husband! Great Job!!!!!

Don't ya' love it!

Carol, thank your husband as well for this fun challenge. You are so right. My apple #8 was a lot better than apple #1.

This is David here, Carol's behind-the-scenes husband.

I have automated the submission process so the challenging artists can do what they do best - paint. So no worries, these challenges will keep coming!

Unfortunately, I fear I have become the Homer Simpson of challenge administrators as I am the one who pushes the "Big Red Accept Button," on the DPW Challenge iPhone App I created, for each submission!

This is the most difficult and valuable exercise there is. Your apples look wonderful.

I agree with Beckielboo.
Everything about the site is cool. It's very user friendly.
I love that you can submit after the week is over and that it shows that there are new paintings up.
Many thanks to you dearest and to the Wizard, Homer Simpson.
