Another painting I did in Germany - from a painting I took in Silverton, CO. Also, I posted recently about the lights I use for still lifes, and got lots of questions. So today I took photos of the two main lights I use (to light my setup, not my painting), including one closeup to show the pertinant info: (on the left, a GE Halogen 25W, on the right Ecosmart 5000K 27W)

Thanks alot...
Who knew trucks could look so purdy. Thanks for sharing your lighting information. Love following your blog. You are such a creative painter and teacher. Hope to do a workshop with you one of these days. Seems like you have to sign up the day they open up to get a spot. Good for you! Happy 2011!
Carol,
This truck is awesome. Who doesn't love a "good ole' blue" pick up truck? I personally love the back bumper!
Thanks for the lighting information. We all just hope that if we learn anything you "big girls" are doing, it will help us get better faster:) I hope to be in a CM workshop soon also... like winning the lottery= that says a lot about you and your teaching!
Thanks for the great paintings and info carol. A small heads up warning on the long life eco-bulbs - they should not be touched on the coils and very properly recycled when it is time - i.e. do not throw into the garbage. They contain mercury. Some people have been found to be sensitive to the light when too close to it. Otherwise, carry on with the awesome work!
Woah, thanks for the info, Anonymous!
You can recycle the CFL bulbs at most hardware stores like Home Depot and Lowe's. Q: where do you buy the ESM27?
Carol, thanks so much for this information on lighting. I have been experimenting with different bulbs lately and shall try these.
Also: regarding the trucks. It is so great to meet someone else who views the world in a similarly humorous and colorful fashion! Love the truck paintings! Eileen
hi Carol, Thanks for showing your light bulb choices. You mentioned NOT lighting the painting with these... do you use something else? Laraine
You are so thorough that I found the information in an older post. Thanks for sharing so much of your process online. You did a great job with your new space -- it looks wonderful!
