"Ready For Action" - SOLD

Regarding what I was saying yesterday, this painting for me gets a little closer still to my ... vision. I really love it. Sometimes, when I am lying in bed at night, before I fall asleep, when my brain is just sort of wandering, I have fleeting images of paintings. They pass through my mind so quickly that I only get a vague kind of feeling about them, but I know they are perfect. These are the images I strive for. I fear that if I were to ever actually paint a perfect painting, I wouldn't NEED to create anymore, so in that way I am glad I never do.

I agree with you Carol. The image in our heads rarely matches exactly what comes out on our canvas... and sometimes that is a good thing (as Martha would say)

That happens to me, too! Visions of brushstrokes (or pastel strokes) dance behind my closed eyelids as I'm drifing off...

Lovely work as always!

Lovely paintings! And I like your comment, it is exactly spot on about the whole process. Let's hope we never reach perfection;)

I think when you look at a painting and it pleases you in a fresh kind of way (doesn't look trite or safe) and you wouldn't change a thing, it approaches that perfection you're talking about. I find that the ones I'd describe that way (and there are few) came together confidently and almost effortlessly. I wonder if you find the same?

What you do so "perfectly" always, is achieve such clarity in your work . . . even when your images are shrunken to postage-stamp size, they have such power and draw me in immediately.

It was wonderful to see you and your work in person in San Antonio! Hoping to go back to the gallery and look again when it's quiet.

Love the painting and great topic too! I think what we consider perfect is always changing. Hopefully anyway... it's a sign of growth. Even if you painted a perfect painting I'm sure you'd still paint... I think you NEED the process.

My favorite part is the cool green bouncing up from the teal napkin onto those golden apples... Great Reflected Light, Carol!! ;)

I took a workshop with Janet Fish a few years ago. She said that one day she finished a painting and it was perfect and effortless. She started adding animals, people and complicated things to her set ups to make them more of a challenge. She is an american master. If you can see her work in person, I highly recommend it.

oops, the violet is on this one :D

Anyway, what you say is so true. It's not really about 'saying' something but more about achieving the painting you believe you're capable of. I just love how you don't OVERCOMPLICATE when choosing your subjects.
While I continue to agonize over subject matter daily.
