I think I'm in love with the green/purple combination. Add to that a little orange and yellow and you get in range of terrifically yummy. Color in general has always been a focus of mine. For me the apples and cups and other props are just vehicles for color exploration. Unlike landscapes, which often lack a full range of strong colors, still life is perfect for me and my search for new and wondrous color combinations!

You give me a new way to look at still life: controlled landscape...heretofore the landscape carried the meaning and still lifes were a pile of things...but....you are so right on desiring color...better than orange and purple trees maybe.
I'm in love the with green/purple thing, too! And I love the 'vehicles for color exploration'! Joan Brancale and I love pancakes, but really, we say they are just 'vehicles for butter..."
purple and green is a fav of mine too. you should see my garden in summer,, tons of lavender everywhere. Look at that vibrant green...wonderful!
Gorgeous, Carol. It's the values I admire. I'm still struggling!
I mentioned you in my last blog-talking about the elusive perfect painting. I had just done one that at least showed that I "got it". Your paintings are just plain "juicy" or as they say in jazz--"tasty"!
I saw your interview Carol and you did mention this. I have to agree with it 'all' and thanks for saying it out loud...
The green/purple is super! I always love how you catch that glint on the apples (and everything else).
well said. I love the green purple combo too. It sings!
I love that apple green. So fresh and lively. I want to tell how I've limited my palette since your workshop here in ME last summer. I think it has really helped me.
I love this painting! The colors are so vibrant..the shading under the fruits are perfect!!
