"Following Figs" - SOLD

I am leaving for Rhode Island next week to teach a 3-day workshop, Sep 8-10. One spot has opened up last minute. If you are interested, please email Kelley Macdonald.
Meanwhile, I found some figs in Austin recently. They had green ones and purple ones, and I much preferred the purple for some reason ... but they were mostly squishy. I had a small window of opportunity to paint them before they got too wrinkly to identify.

*squishy figs...* oh, my... I'm drooling! This painting has such 'punch', aside from being a favorite fruit... I love the violet and the yellow!

Very nice handling of the cup! I know how hard it is to do that. cc

The reflected color of the fig in the mug, the beautiful glow in the shadow of the mug... these are my favorite spots.
Favorite spots in a very beautiful little painting.

So glad you found figs in your neck of the world! My favorite figs are the Brown Turkey figs--they aren't squishy and, for me, they always photograph well.

The little "blue figs" (purple) are the best here in Austin. My great grandparents brought a start in 1827, and the descendents were still alive in my grandmother's back yard in Highland Park West until recently. (The trees had traveled a lot.) Fig preserves at Grandmother's house were a wonderful part of childhood. Now I make them for my grandchildren.
