"Waiting to Cross"

I've always had a huge appreciation for people who can paint people (like Karin Jurick & Margaret Dyer) but after painting this I have a RENEWED appreciation. It's hard to get everything just right. And I didn't, but I got close I think. And I enjoyed it. So I'll be on the lookout for more people to photograph & paint.
Meanwhile I'd like to put out a feeler for a potential workshop in Hawaii. I am considering putting together a small workshop (12 max) on the Big Island this November. Please let me know if this is something you'd be interested in, and how long the workshop would have to be to make it worth your while. Thanks!

Carol, this is great! It is so very edgy and the angles are really working well. What is amazing also is that your technique here does not look so very different from your technique with still life (the underpainting, the wonderful strokes made with conviction). The color scheme is also super! I think you are onto something. But please don't stop the still life, because I want to take your workshop and work with still life (how selfish of me).

Carol I LOVE this painting. You totally nailed the body language and the light, and what a great job of abstracting the figures in the background. Big smiles looking at this one. Bravo!

What fun! Love the sketchy look of the background figures and space, giving the foreground the spotlight. Nice job.

Yes, what 'silent witness' said so great - love this -

Anyhow, the Hawaii workshop sounds great, I'm SURE you'll have a full house - go for it!

I think you've painted the people in this very well! I love all your daily paintings, I've just been browsing through your blog and I think they are just beautiful!

I paint people, they're my favorite subject, but I agree that it is very tricky to get it just right :)

Love the figure, posture, arms and legs. And I really like what you did behind it all. Great depth/perfect amount of interest. Look forward to more!

the bodylanguage ...... oh yes, you captured it. So what counts, the expression, is in it. You go sky-high lately.

It is so good to see this painting. I love your work but this one has 'more' of something and I like it very much. Good to see this one.

You nailed this figure. I love the simple strokes. Hawaii? Oh, how I wish but you'll pull that off and it'll be memorable!

Wonderful, Carol. It is amazing how you get so much expression with just a few strokes.
