"Bring a Friend"

Another duck photo from Inks Lake. I can't tell you enough how much I am enjoying trying new things. I feel a whole world opening up. I know it was there all along, but I think it took getting to a certain point with still lifes before I could see it.

Love this, what sweet little duckies. I agree, trying new things are so fun. I love every new painting I start. Don't always love them when they are finished but I just move on to another one.

I'm a full time painter, and have been following your work and blog for a while now, and feel so encouraged by your candor as well as your talent and skill. Your zest for growth as an artist gives us all permission to not be satisfied with where we are but to keep working. The reflected light in this painting says everything about where you've been and how you've honed your observation skills with all those lovely still life paintings. Thanks for sharing them.

These ducks are so cute! The warm and cool colors in the white are lovely. They are so animated.

Always a good idea to step out of our comfort zones. A time of growth!

There is SO much life in this painting--I can feel these ducks breathing, hear them rustling the grass with their fanciful feet. It is totally sensational--one of those timeless, joyous images I will never forget!

Oh, Carol, I just love your new paintings, the Mustang and the Ducks! These new subjects are just as stunning as your still life paintings! Just gorgeous!!

I always say painting is like raising kids. Just when you think you finally "get" the "stage" they are in, they grow out of it and move to something new! I guess it's all cyclical. I'm finding your foray into new subject matter refreshing and delightful. Thanks for sharing!

Heh so the moment you get your huge new studio finished you are spending all your time outside doing other things...hmmmm sounds like there's some hidden issue there. ;-)

Love the ducks and the landscapes, I have no idea why no one is snapping them up!

well, mary lou couldn't have said it better! - ditto to all of it and i'm so happy for you to be busting out! after painting for 30 years, i was so excited when i started my blog 14 months ago that i couldn't sleep!! - it was the newness of it and the prospect of what would lie ahead...keep it up!

This painting has a sense of joy, Carol. It is obvious that is the emotion you have tapped into with your new subjects, in this new season, in your new studio! Change is liberating. May you discover all sorts of new things about yourself and your work. Congrats--can't wait to see where you go next.

Yes, Carol, you must feel 'cracked wide open'! That's the way it looks from your paintings! I say fling your arms open wide and RUN into this wind! These ducks are just wonderful. Best ducks ever!

Hey Carol, this is such a great little painting. LOVE the gorgeous colors in the shadow side of the forward duck, and you can just FEEL the waddle. So great!

Bravo to you for stepping into some new subject matter, I think it's one of the most powerful things we can do to stay engaged and challenged, and you sound very engaged at the moment.

PS: Have a great time at the JC workshop! I'm totally jealous!

You're gifted Carol. You can paint anything. Paint what you want when you want.

These paintings from photos are so full of life you'd never know they weren't from observation - I think it takes a keen eye to capture the energy of a subject particularly from a photo - not an easy task! These are great, I love them!

Another Carol here!

Love the sense of movement in this painting and am really enjoying your landscapes and other imagery... it is a whole new world, heh?

I have trouble keeping to one thing in painting... but am focusing on two main themes... colorful abstracts and muted abstracts...

Thanks for sharing... love your blog!

But, the whole world is a still life, just on a grander scale. :) Love these especially because you stepped out of our comfort zone.
(Though, gotta tell you when I saw the e-mail for the previous post, I was expecting to see a horse!)

You rock! Keep having fun!!
(We are too watching all this unfold.)
