"On the Inside" - SOLD & "Green on Green"

I've been busy the last few days building/buying furniture/moving/cleaning out the old "studio"/etc. See an update on the studio. I am a bit ahead with my paintings, so even though I haven't actually painted in my new studio, I've got some to show you. For some reason I am hesitant to paint in there ... call me crazy ... here I am with this perfectly wonderful new space ... I think it's the pressure - like somehow my first painting has to be super stellar. But here's something funny - because of the paintings I have on hand, the next painting I do will be 999 (the one above is 992).

BUY NOW $90

I've decided, after careful consideration, what to do with #1000. I will post it and sell it, then donate the proceeds to a charity of the buyer's choosing. I'll let you know when it comes up. I think I'll paint tomorrow.

Hey Carol,

I moved into a new studio in December, and it took me 3 weeks to stop puttzing (cleaning, organizing, painting walls etc.) for the same reason. Then I did my first painting and it was quite underwhelming. It actually took about 3 or 4 to get warmed up to the new space and do something I was happy with. You might want to just jump in and get the first one over with, good or bad, it'll get the ball rolling in there.

Liz sounds like she knows what she is talking about. How great to have such a beautiful place to work. Nice idea for number 1,000.

love these two paintings!..about the studio - i agree - take the pressure off #1000 and attack it in your old familiar space...or maybe the fact that it's #1000 will carry its own set of trepidations, no matter where you paint it! - what happened with #100? #500? - trust your hands, your eye and your brush...they'll know what to do...

My suggestion for breaking in the studio is like my pressure when starting a clean writing journal...start with the middle of something. Do touch-ups. Don't start at the beginning of a piece. :)

Carol I just love the way you can pull off a high key painting, never seems to work for me. The reflected color on the bowl is yummy.

Having just moved in to a new studio myself, I know exactly what you mean about your first painting. Its superstitious, but I felt like the first painting might be an indication of what is to come in the future. I took the pressure off by doing signatures and touch up first.

I can't believe you have kept count of all those paintings! Maybe you should make a big mess with 999 just to get it out of your system! Your idea for a charitable donation for #1000 is wonderful. Congrats on all your hard work. It has obviously paid off!

Technical questions for you. I've been looking at your shadow box on the blog and talked my father in law into building one for me. He looked at the photos posted on your blog but couldn't figure it out. What are the dimensions? Is the platform that it sits on attached to the Home Depot stand or is that the bottom half of the shadow box. What size PVC did you use? Maybe your husband should make a kit and sell them! Thanks Carol.

I love the green apple, white bowl, cool background. So lovely! I haven't commented before, but I've been enjoying and feeling inspired by your work now and then when I stop by. Thanks!
