I was messing around with this setup - with bowls and such - and suddenly realized just the pear with it's shadow made a cute little scene. The pear is an actor, see, and it's conferring with it's shadow backstage, reviewing lines, calming butterflies, etc. Can you see it?

Backstage jitters - break a leg, Pear!
I can see it! He's in a play by Shakespear.
Gorgeous shadows, Carol. You really nailed it with this one. And the story is good too!
Yes, I see it...and what a little star it is! Like the way the pear is the only intense color in the composition.
Have you been painting the floor of your new studio with epoxy paint? Your title suggests you may have inhaled a little more than you should have. That's just a smartass way of saying, "I don't see it." But I love the little painting anyway.
Oh yes! perfectly told. Oh, and, I'm noticing the reflections on the surface of the 'table.' Are you using a mirror or just shinny surface?
i can see it...and i love it...brings back memories of my theatre days!
AND it's not his favorite scene; THE SWORDFIGHT!
He gets turned into chutney....
Love it!
That pear's shadow is a great stand-in, and I love the supporting actors as well...
He's all set to take centre stage. Well done on the painting, its lovely.
What a great way to begin my day! Love your explanation and Mary's and Carolyn's comments!! LOL!!
Yes, the shadows are wonderful, but also the reflections. Just wonderful!!
Your pear and green apple paintings are some of my favorites. You really show your tonal subtleties with less intense color schemes such as this. Your hero must be playing the Duc D'Anjou!
I don't know where you come up with the wonderful expressive titles for your work but I love them. I have given you the sinshine award for creative blogging it can be picked up at my blog http//paintingoftheday.blogspot.com
ah, this is one of my favorites! I love your work, and being a still-life painter myself, you are such an inspiration! plus, looking at your little still lifes brightens my day. thank you!
