"Blue Stacks" - SOLD

This is painting 939. I started on this journey a little over 3 years ago. I've been thinking for a while that I'd like to do something special for number 1000, which is coming up. I decided today that in a small, humble way I would like to say thank you to all my loyal fans by giving away my 1000th painting! I'm not sure yet how I'll pick the winner, but I will post it here as soon as I think of it. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Well, you could pick me - then your thinking would be over? Okay, I agree not very practical for the other folks - but I'm so enjoying "Cozy Up," that I hope someone as appreciative receives your 1000th! But then again, your art creates appreciation!

I just did my 200th painting and then I came here and saw you are close to 1000 - Er, um. . .

Congratulations! Paint on! I'm looking forward to the next 1000!!! Truly.

I think it would be unfair to pick the last commentor- so instead just pick me!
Or you could put all our names in a hat....

Carol--what an accomplishment. And one of the great rewards, among many, is how beautiful your paintings have continued to grow with each passing day. Your discipline is inspiring, along side the simple beauty of your works. I have to again and again remind myself your pieces are 6 x 6--they have so much presence they could pass for large works! Leslie Saeta uses random.com to do her monthly giveaway--that might be just what you need for such an auspicious occasion as #1000...:)
Congratualtions!!

Or... you could pick me and save yourself the trouble of sifting through thousands of hopefuls :D
Really though, whomever is the lucky winner is, well, very lucky.
This of course, is another beauty.

Carol,
I haven't posted here much... just once or twice I think. But I've been following you for a year or more and have purchaced one of your paintings (mushrooms, thank you very much), and bought your book as well.

Anyway, here's my thought for your 1000th painting... how about donating it to a charity auction or sell it as usual, but with the proceeds going to a charity.

Seems like it would go well with the times we are in right now, and I'm sure we'd all be rooting for you.

Actually what you could do is hold a raffle and get a really long comments thread on it, then count up the number of commenters and put names in a hat, pull it out. Everyone gets a chance -- maybe give it a week for everyone to comment and announce the raffle winner in a blog a week later.

That'd be the fair way to do it since I don't honestly expect you to pick me ahead of these other two friends or anyone else that comes after me.

Anyone who doesn't win the raffle painting can always go buying another of your originals, they're very reasonably priced and you're so prolific!

How about the last post on #999 before you post #1000 gets #1000.

Or me??? I like blue, but the red is my favorite so far. :)

Great painting--it always fascinates me how you can unify a painting with so many different colored (local color) objects. Wonderful.

Carol, we ALL want to win the 1000th painting! Maybe you could hold a contest: whoever comes up with the title that is most appealing (to you)for your 1000th could win it???? The only problem is that someone (like me!) might submit about 100 titles to have 100 chances to win. You could limit the number of entries. Just a thought.

Well, you can't pick me. If you announced the winner was Nobody, your fans might not understand. I like this one better than the red. I think the light is more subdued.

Love this stack! I wish I could contribute an idea how you could pick a winner for number 1,000..
as we are all such fans. You could make us ALLL happy and just pass one out to each of us who post on a certain day :)

What an accomplishment, close to 1000.
I love how you are able to get that gleam that you see on a mug - just amazes me every time you paint one!

How about the 1000th person to leave a comment?

You are a generous soul. How about an E-Bay auction then you could donate the money to your favorite charity? Congratulations on your upcoming 100th painting, we'd like some more please!

Wow! What a wonderful accomplishment. I, too, am grateful for the discipline of painting daily. Check out The Pioneer Woman she has giveaways down pat! Basically, you have everyone who wants to enter, just leave a comment and you pick one at random.

You might gift it to the person who, in YOUR opinion, supplies the best title. That should encourage some activity on that painting.....

Christmas is tip-toeing nearer, have a fine one, Filbertina! And the same to all you other guys!

Do like the radio stations do, choose the 12th caller but instead make it the 12th email or comment writer.
Did you go back and compare your first picture to your last.

Perhaps boring, but simple - a random draw from those names of anyone who expresses an interest by Commenting on the 1000th painting.

Blue Stacks is somehow deeply satisfying and familiar: the objects, the colours, the brushstrokes combine to make a resolved, delicious painting.

It still amazes me that you can come up with THAT MANY ways to create an interesting composition, using so few items over and over again... that alone is very inspiring!!

And I'm like a few of you here... I don't comment much, but I do look at and enjoy every single post. I also purchased your book, and I have to say it's quite a gem!!

Keep up the great work. Can't wait for the workshop next year, and to see what painting#1000 will be about!!
