"Apples Compliment" - SOLD

So what you're thinking is "where are all the wild and crazy colors we've been promised!?" Well, would you believe this was a green tomato and red apples? No, I suppose not. OK, I admit, this is a pathetic first attempt! I did exaggerate some colors, esp. in the shadows, but nothing too crazy. I really like the result ... but it's not what I set out to do. I, I, I ... swear I'll do better next time.

Here is the link for the KUT radio spot about my art (just 2 minutes).

Also (lots to report today) the Daily Painter Review did a review of my art as well. Man coverage everywhere - I am one lucky chickie!

I think it's great!!! I think that means that you don't need a model anymore, you can paint whatever you want, you can go right to surrealism or the like ;o)
And let me congratulate you on your coverage, way to go!
Best regards,
Carolina

Great interview Carol! And I love that you are painting apples. Apples are my comfort zone when painting...but some people say that my backgrounds have more energy than my fruits...don't know what to do. Yours look always awesome and shiny! Need your workshop in North Carolina urgently ;)...but haven't found a place yet.

A delightful and uplifting interview, Carol! I hope it brought a slew of newbies to your blog and hopefully even more sales (a win-win if you ask me). Also I look forward to watching where this departure from real color will lead...very intriguing!

great interview carol! - i remember when i first started this journey, (only this past february) - i absolutely couldn't sleep! - i was so excited - couldn't wait to get up to that studio! - as far as your color experiment - i love the colors in this one - especially the nearer shadows - i think i remember hearing that, like values, if you get the color temperature correct, it doesn't matter what colors you use...can't wait to see what you come up with, day by day...

You are also one slammin' painter chick. This just shows how well your knowledege and practice is paying off. You can reverse the colors perfectly. That... is magic.

I know you have the wild in you though ;) and it will come out :D
You're AWESOME!

If I wasn't living in Ireland I'd go to one of your workshops I think. I've a friend married to a Texan girl maybe I'll get there one day.

What colour is the shadow on a tom-ah-to ? And how do you darken colours generally ... ? Like in your "Little Cakes" painting - the blue dots and their dark bits - is the blue darkened with darker blue and lightened with white ? Please tell us http://wallyworkmangallery.com/art/D8BCFC7302b641B38CyRjM931738.jpg
