"Wind Tossed" - SOLD

There's a whole slew of these flowers that have popped up across the road from our house. They are really lovely. Unfortunately this one changed considerably while I was painting it, and so the details I intended to add at the end were abandoned. But I liked it well enough without. I liked this flower specifically because it wasn't perfect ... it was a bit wind tossed.

Carol, love your blog, but no way of coming on one of your courses because I'm in the UK. So a question please about your yellow flower. I can see you have laid in the orange/browns first and then cut round into it afterwards with the dark greens, but how did you manage to place darker orange strokes on top of the lighter orange/yellow without smudging? I can see you have some sharp edges. I'm guessing that the first colour was very dilute with turps and with a warm outside breeze it dried very quickly. Am I about right?

Thanks you guys!

Noel, to answer your question, whenever I have to lay paint on top of another, I go for short, strokes with more paint, and generally have to reload after each one. And you're right, the first strokes in that spot were probably a little thinner with that in mind.
