"The Secret Life of Grapes"

I did a large painting today (still wet - not this one) but nothing small, so I thought I'd post a larger one I did a couple of weeks ago. This one will go in my solo show at the Wally Workman Gallery in Austin, TX this July. It is 20"x24".

Love it...

I keep coming back to the 2 lost petals, the 3 hidden grapes and the reflections. Those 3 elements make it special. But for the life of me I can't come up with a title that addresses that. Maybe something will come to me.

Ok, this may sound goofy, but the second I saw it I thought "Daisies and Dots"...perhaps a little silly for something so beautiful. Just wanted you to know you are a great source of inspiration for me in my own walk in art! Thank you!

I must be tired because all I can think of is "Itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dotted drapes". Sorry, it's been a long week!

Wow! All the elements are lovely, but I agree that the dots give it such life--almost as if it is snowing or raining confetti, as Michel said. It's a winner.

I love this painting Carol. I keep coming back to the three grapes hiding in the shadows - like they're telling secrets. I don't come up with the wording, though, sorry.

The bowl to the vase, the grapes to the flowers, the floor to the curtain...i think one word says it all for this painting, "Complements". Nice work.

Not to mention the yellow to the purple...:)

I’ve been following your work for a while now, and admire it so much. This one speaks to me. I keep looking at the relationship of the two main subjects and their parts seemingly scattered, but drawn together as one whole subject. It reminds me of the “Yin Yang” symbol. Each one shares a little of the other and together they are one. My suggestion is: “Soul Mates”.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful work. It is such a joy to watch your progress.

I love the color combination here, Carol. The yellows and greens really stand out, and the blues and grays are delicious!

Just going through some artists blogs accessed from an artist friend of mine and ran into yours. Just had to drop you a line and comment that I think you have some real jewels her. Good work.

A lot of nice little touches in this painting: the fallen grapes and petals, the dotted fabric, the overall composition.

The reflections on the shiny surface are well executed and caught my eye.

Great job, Carol!

Bowl full of cherries....? ? Hehe... your larger format gives me a feeling of 'early morning industry'... sort of like 'color despite itself' ..extraordinary.
