"Staggered"

When in doubt, paint what you know. This is what I advise every artist having an "oh darn I forgot how to paint again" day. I'm pretty familiar with apples, so they are generally my fallback when I have a crisis.

Carol, I love your apples. The composition is very interesting to me. And, as always, I love the strokes! I have it in my mind to loosen up, and I think of you when I try it...

What is it about this one that I love? It's so warm and the temperature variations, those licks of green are just a dream. They make the warms come alive.

Another little gem. The compositions are always so right. Do you start/wipe/restart/rewipe/restart much or have you gotten to the point that you just know where things should go? Amazing what a 1/4 inch will do.

I have never used oils (yet) but seeing your luscious work makes me want to run out and try them.

am signing up for your emails....and hope to make it to one of your workshops one day.

your work is so terrific and inspiring...i took your advice... and tried painting apples today, but i do not find them that easy to paint...they must not be my best fallback subject. i love everything you decide paint!

These are great. I had a wipe off about the time you were painting apples. I painted apples to get over my funk and when I sat down that evening and opened your blog, this was the post! I had to laugh, apples are my fall back, too, I just didn't know it! Thanks for the insight.

Lucky you had to fallback or we wouldn't have got to see this beautiful gem of a painting :)
