Apparently my emails are still not getting out to everyone. If you are one of those people, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience! I am working on a solution. Apparently there is a way to "follow" my blog using blogger, but the instructions for installing the icon are for a newer version of blogger that I don't have. I already have some "followers" but I'm not sure how they signed up - if you are one of those people can you tell us how? Thanks. Meanwhile, I am taking a break and going camping with my family. Back on Sunday.

Personally I added the widget in - just like you do when you add any other widget
Plus I also use the "Blogs I'm following" tab in the dashboard view to add in blogs I'm following. I find that much easier as many of the ones I'm following have not yet added the follower widget!
There's two sections to the dashboard view now
- the dashboard (ie blogs you manage)
- the reading list - which has three tabs - including the one you want to take a peek at.
I'm finding it very useful. It's much faster than going to a reader or inbox for reading blog posts.
I forgot to mention that I picked up your predicament because I saw your blog post in the 'blogs I'm following' tab! :)
You can use Google Reader too. To add a feed you just click the "Add Feed" button on the left side and copy and paste the url of the blog into the pop up window. You can then sort your feeds into different folders, etc. Works great!
Unless I am reading this wrong (Could be as I have had a really bad day and no sleep in the last 36 hours)this may not help you as it is not something you can control. The instructions given are correct and it works like a charm (I have been following your blog for months), but, you can not control it. It is up to your readers that are missing your e-mail to sign up on THEIR blogs to "follow" your blog. They should be able to do it through their blog even if you don't have the widget on yours. After all, I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOURS. Good Luck

And also..... should be easy to switch to newer version of blogger from your dashboard. The only glitch is if you changed some html on your own instead of using blogger templates as provided.
