"Morning Glow" --- SOLD

This is the last painting I did in Rockport this last weekend. It was Sunday morning at about 8 and the sun was hitting these two boats head on, making their hulls just glow. Consequently the reflections on the water were just magnificent. Unfortunately a storm rolled in while I was painting, completely changing the color of the sky AND the water, so I had to use some creative liscense in finishing it off.

You certainly prove that you can make the transition from your comfort zone in the studio to plein aire! The last few "posts" and particularly "Morning Glow" are really well done. B,

How you can get such ENERGY into such traditionally peaceful subject matter, I can't figure out. But it gives me happy zings to see this painting. Beautiful!

It's worth keeping your creative license up to date, anyway. It's awful when you let it expire and they have to take a new photo to renew it. Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Carol - One of the daily painters I really enjoy looking at. This is another great one.

I have a suspicion you are going to excel en plein air!

Oh Carol......these are among the most beautiful plein air pieces I've ever seen! Not just from you, but from anyone. You are already one of America's finest painters - unmistakable brushwork, strong compositions, beautiful color harmonies.... Way to go!

Carol- the way you've captured light and composition in brush work is just astonishingly gorgeous. I love love love your paintings- still lifes and plein air.
I can so easily see why you have a following as loyal, exuberant and accomplished as they all are.
Seeing your work here every day ( and oh, I forgot to mention, disciplined!) is like having my favorite gallery available over morning coffee!

I am a huge fan. A daily fan.

Hi Carol, I also am a daily fan. It's great to see you do something different. Even in plein air you can see you style coming through. I like seeing the color of your toned canvas peeking through and you can see all of your great brush strokes. Barb

These plein air pieces are wonderful Carol. I love the unique perspectives and compositions you bring to your work and it's fun to see you stretch to other subjects.

Another daily fan reporting in. Carol, these latest plein air paintings prove how versatile you are. Your daily painting commitment has produced an increasingly higher level of work and forging a "sweet spot" in the American art scene. Bravo.
I appreciate your discussion of brushes and offering brands and descriptions of performance. Many times I've found myself wanting to try a new brush, fingering the many to select from, becoming overwhelmed, and not taking the plunge with my hard earned money. Thanks to your critique, I have three new brushes on the way through mail :-)

I love how you carry your style over into landscapes. The brushwork in that water is beautiful!

The focal point in these paintings is well defined. You did a great job of subordinating the secondary elements of the design thus keeping the eye where you want it.
