"Orange Stripes" --- SOLD

I picked up some cool new fabrics this weekend when I was out visiting my folks. There is a cool craft store nearby with remnants in the back. Remnants are just relatively small pieces of fabric, and they are always different and usually interesting. And with these blue stripes I thought these orange bits would be perfect.

Beautiful Carol! mmm...I need to go buy some oranges! Regarding white from earlier posts, I had a professor say the same thing to me as a student, "too much white". I think I still "fear" or avoid white a lot. You are inspiring!

Hi Carol, great work. You are, in my opinion, the best of the "Painting a Day" ers. Glad you got a fair price on the Pear in a Cup. They all deserve to sell for that much.

Hi Carol,
I'm new to this whole blog thing and just created my own blog. I love all your daily paintings! My mouth watered looking at these oranges today.
Great job!

You've done it again! The freshness of color applied in such a direct way stands out like no other work I have seen. I wish this one could have had many shots as it evolved, so that we could enjoy seeing the way color was applied. Maybe some other time. Did you do it all in one go, or some parts were allowed to dry a little before applying more? I am trying to figure out how not to let things get muddy. Magnificent work!

essetch- I almost never ever go back to a painting once it's dry. That means doing them all in one go for sure. I find if I start one (larger than these small ones) and finish it by the evening, it's still wet enough to do wet-on-wet. That's really what I prefer.
