"Loneliness" - SOLD

Today was the first day of my advanced workshop here in Jacksonville, FL and I think it went really well. Today we explored the elusive WHITE. It looks so easy, but oh the hidden depths of white. Ahhh, just try it for yourself. It took a lot of wine tonight to get over it, but I think by tomorrow we'll be ready for the next challenge: flowers and glass. I did this painting last week in preparation for this workshop and figured it was appropriate to post today.

Marvelous job!! Upon first glance, it might not look that hard. Until you look again at the many shades of gray and ochre you have used - you just make it look easy!!! Thanks for sharing. Have fun in Florida.

When I saw I had an email from Carol Marine entitled "Loneliness", I thought now that doesn't fit. Carol is one of the happiest people online! But the painting is great and so is the name! I've also really been enjoying your scenes of people.

Great job Carol! I totally understand the need for lots of wine after a painting like this. So many shades of white! Is there anything harder to paint??

Carol, Dyan Rook (aka, your other mother-in-law) and I (Renee Finlay - aka Meryl) went to Warren, RI this weekend for its Studio Tours just to introduce ourselves to Kelley MacDonald. Your ears must have been buzzing. We enjoyed our visit and it was great to see her studio.
I too was instantly taken aback when I saw the title for this gem and had a "oh no,hope everything is alright" moment but then knowing your humor knew you were up to your tricks.
Love the depth of sophisticated colors you seem to effortlessly pull out of your hat.

Thank you for sending your paintings out into the world. As a painter myself, I find them very inspiring. When I don't quite feel like painting I will look up painters blogs to help me get into the painting 'mood' and I visit your blog every time.

Carol, I just wanted to leave a note thanking you for the Blurb book link you have here on your blog. I've been inspired not only by your paintings but by the book, so I made my own. I work in gouache and very differently from you, but you're definitely one of my "inspirational teachers". Thanks!

I envy your being there! I would die to go back to Tallahassee to live - absolutely gorgeous surroundings that feed the soul and the creativity.
