"Country Driveway" - SOLD

Recently I visited my folks in the Texas Hill Country and painted a scene looking down the driveway that I saw half a billion times growing up. So now I have to figure out whether I like this so much because it works, or because ... I'm sentimentally attached.

Oh it definitely works! Looks just like this area. I love how the light lays on the field and the road!

I liked it right away... and I've never been to Texas! Very nice.

I think all of the above ..... sentimental for sure but this is now a beautiful job on a driveway .... perhaps you never saw it that way before. Suzy

If my opinion helps your decision making process, then let it be known: It WoRKs!
Carol, I think your landscapes are gorgeous. And I like this one so much I may just have to bid on it.
I love the bright blue in the shadow, the way the toned support shows through in the sky and in the trees, the dark outline of the road as it bends.
Wow. I just LOVE it. Good work.

Ahh, that is the grand question isn't it? Personally, I think it's rockin. :)

Carol, I like it because it definitely works for me. Somehow, that band of blue shadow across the bottom/foreground gives the painting an almost abstract quality, but I don't know why.

It's GOR-geous! And the fact that you're sentimentally attached makes it that much more so!

You must have been channeling your sentimentality into to the painting because it reminds me of my home too. It works kiddo!

I think this is one of the best you've done in a long time. I'm obsessed with the cool shadow found on white gravel/dirt roads. Strong sense of sunlight.

I think I'll use this as one of the feature paintings for part 3.

A beauty!
Something new in the brushwork and the color is juiced up, but not too much.
Simple lines, slammin' composition!

Great stuff, Carol. Love the color in the shadows!

It totally works! I can even see the live oaks, those two lighter strokes in the upper left tree line make them. How DO you do it?

I just love your style and bold strokes--absolutely wonderful!
