"Apple Pie?" - SOLD

This is one of my favorites of what I've done lately. I did a larger painting too with a similar theme. I swear I'll show these soon ... just need to get them photographed ...

I wanted to say, about the self-portrait yesterday, first of all, thank you for all the nice comments! It was especially difficult doing a face in such a small format, and well ... MY face particularly. And most difficult of all, posting it for all to see! I try to keep the standard up here and never post the should-have-been-wiped's. I don't know about this one. The more I look at it I see all the odd things that could/should have been better. Now I feel I have to redeem myself by posting a better self-portrait - I'm just afraid it'll take a little while for me to get around to it.

One more note: we did some work on the studio today and I will post photos tomorrow. AND, while outside picking up scraps, I got stung by a wasp - OUCH!

Hi Carol, I like your self portrait but I noticed that I have never been more critical of a painting than the one self portrait I did. Maybe it's just an odd thing to see ourselves on a canvas. Kind of like hearing your voice on the message machine?
If your sting still hurts tomorrow, there is a wonderful gel called apis gel that we've found helps a lot.

Fabulous!!! The stainless bowl is amazing. The apples look crisp and shiney. Perfect, Carol!

This is simply a fantastic painting. The color of the apples, the reflection in the bucket (or bowl) in the back and the composition are all amazing.
Sorry about the wasp but glad you are making progress on the studio! Congrats!

Wow, Carol,
You are so great at making silver/steel look hard and shiny and glass looks so glassy. I love the way you put personality on your subjects through your titles.
God bless,
jacki

summertime-first poison ivy and now wasps, keep an eye out for ticks. love your apples and that you are willing to share with us what you consider possible "wipe outs"-keep up your wonderful work-look at all the artists you are making happy by encouraging them to paint, wipe, paint

Aren't you happy you discovered metal bowls? Glowing red apple + shiny reflective bowl = stunning painting!

This is amazing. Such luscious apples and a great shine on the apples and the bowl. How do you get the metal look, especially in the top left? It is completely convincing.

Carol,
Your self portrait challenge me to try one last night... and you are right it is hard to do your self. But I'm glad I tried. Just registered for you fall workshop and am looking forward to it. I found you website two weeks ago while looking for a painting that had plaid fabric in it. I have started my own blog and love the idea of daily paintings. Look forward to Sedona.

Carol, I personally think your self portrait is quite good, and very true your style. If I undertook a self portrait it would be sooooo overworked trying to get it lookin' good...I actually think it's important to post not just all the paintings we think really worked out well, but the ones we struggled with.
